Over 70 million smartphones are lost every year and only 5% of those are recovered, a significant loss when viewed alongside the increasingly more expensive smartphones of today. We have developed a novel and cost-effective prototype that prevents the loss of smartphones by using a connected smart watch to track when a user is potentially leaving their phone behind. Users will receive an alert on their smart watch whenever they are about to leave a public location and not one of the preset safe locations without their smartphone.
