AI System Build For London Job Portal

When computer science professor Anwar Haque first partnered with the London Economic Development Corporation (LEDC), he noticed the organization struggled with manually managing its job board. LEDC staff spent countless hours copying, pasting, and formatting job postings from various companies, an increasingly impossible task as London's population grew. Recognizing the inefficiency, Haque, alongside his PhD student Muhammad Zakar, developed an AI-driven solution. Using machine learning algorithms, they created an advanced AI model to automate the job board updates, ensuring accuracy and timeliness while significantly reducing manual labor. This innovative system, launched in January 2024, scans websites, formats new job postings to fit LEDC’s standards, and updates the job board daily.

The AI solution has had a profound impact on LEDC's operations. By eliminating manual tasks, staff can now focus on high-impact workforce development activities. "This automation allows us to provide better support to employers and drive economic prosperity in our region," said Christine Wilton, director of workforce development at LEDC. Haque's technology not only enhances the efficiency of job boards but also serves the wider community by promoting job opportunities and attracting quality candidates. Through his company Bamboo Innovations, Haque continues to bridge the gap between academia and industry, deploying smart technology solutions to address real-world challenges and train the next generation of innovators.
